Archaeological Site Name: Baraqish City

Date: Discovered on eighth century BC

Location and Importance:  Located in eastern Yemen, the ancient inscriptions call it the city of Yathal, and it is the religious capital of the Ma'in kingdom

Components and Exploration: The city is surrounded by an oval wall 766 meters long, with an average height of 14 meters.It contains defensive towers, and its walls bear 280 Ancient South Arabian scripts. The city is home to the temple of the god “Nakrah”, which was discovered during a period of archaeological excavations in 1990-1992.
