This lyrical genre is distinguished by rural songs in Yemen’s southwestern Taiz governorate which vary and overlap with other genres. Its lyrical style is associated with social occasions and agricultural seasons. While there are no studies documenting this color and its beginnings, nor its musical instruments or rhythms, it is today sung along with modern musical instruments such as the oud. The artists Ayoub Tarish and Mona Ali popularized this color in the middle of the 20th century.
